The first phase is a site visit. This initial consultation meeting will involve a discussion of ideas and concepts that you may already have. We will discuss decorative aspects, design options and practicalities. Including horticultural advice on soil, plants etc. We carry out soil tests and measure up the site. A base plan is then drawn up, outlining the main features and ideas. This plan is hand drawn to scale. Each garden is tailored to individual needs, ideas and location.
At this stage we can also supply lists of plants to suit your site and soil if you wish to design your own planting plan. (Useful for keen gardeners and DIY enthusiasts)
This will take approx 3 hours on an average sized plot. (23x14m) - under 0.25 acre.
This plan can then be interpreted by yourselves or passed on to a landscape contractor to carry out any hard landscaping work eg. paths, ponds paving etc.
We will bring photographs of my work & copies of plans to help you choose whether or not you wish to progress to the next phase.
The fee for this initial consultation includes up to 3 hours on site with Christine & Mike Liddle & travel of up to 60 miles round trip £ £293.75
For larger gardens & out of Tyne & Wear area we charge £62.75 per extra hour spent on site or travelling and 45p per mile above 60 miles. Fees include vat @ 17.5%

Phase 2
At the first stage having discussed your requirements, I can then estimate the cost of detailed plans with planting schemes for which I charge £65.00 per hour. This charge obviously reflects the size of garden , planting schemes, details required etc.
The original base plan is redrawn usually on a larger scale to produce detailed drawings. These are produced with a work schedule and practical advisory information if required. These can then be passed on to your contractor or can be read and followed easily by the layman.
Plans are delivered personally and discussed stage by stage. Fee due on delivery of plans.

Phase 3
I am also willing to work with and advise a contractor of your choice by visiting the site following a design. The standard charge for this is £196.25 per visit. Any additional Telephone support to yourself or contractor no fee charged.
Condition of payment; fees due 7 days before each site visit.

Small Gardens By Post
For a design layout by post for a small garden area of less than 32 square metres ( 4 metres x 8 metres or less) Send us a plan of your garden/border to a scale of 1: 50 with photos taken every 2 metres around the perimeter. Number your photos to cross reference points on the plan in pencil. Identify North, prevailing winds, anything you want to hide, any features you want to retain, omit any you are going to remove, Identify where the house is situated in relation to the plot, whether back or front garden. Please enclose a cheque for £196.25.
If you also require a planting plan please carry out soil tests every 2 metres on a grid marked on a separate plan in pencil. The additional cost for a planting plan is £117.50.
